*Use 3 foot measurement (yardstick).

1. Select an average area of the soybean field for sampling.
2. Determine row width or row spacings!
3. Count number of plants in 3 ft. of row. (Make 3 counts and average)
4. Avg. Number plants/3 ft. row x **Multiplier =
Plants/A for respective row spacing
Note: If row width cannot be determined then count number of plants in one yd?
Number of plants/yd2 x 4,840 =
plants/A.

Pods/plant Determination-

1. Dont count pods on two most uppermost nodes.
2. Count number of pods on five consecutive plants in a row and calculate the avg. number of pods per plant.
3. Do the pod counts at 3 separate sites in the field and then average.
(Count in same area where plant population was determined!)

Soybean Yield Formula =

Plants/A x Avg. Number pods/plant x 2.3 ) 3000 )60 = Bu/A
